DX scoops Home Office innovation award
DX Secure service recognised for innovative approach to improving passport delivery
The DX Group, the UK & Ireland’s leading independent mail, courier and secure logistics company, has won ‘best example of innovation in service delivery’ in the prestigious Supplier Value and Innovation Awards Programme, awarded by the Home Office.
The accolade recognises DX’s innovative approach to improving the efficiency and security of passport delivery for the Identity and Passport Service, via the introduction of Computer Vehicle Routing Software and Handheld GPS Devices for its DX Secure service.
DX has developed a unique system that is designed to improve route planning, confirm address validity and to capture evidence of delivery. The initiative has delivered significant service and value improvements to the IPS including:
· 16 per cent cost reduction to IPS
· 80 per cent reduction in passport losses compared to Royal Mail
· Average 74 per cent drop in investigation rates for ‘missing’ items
Established by the Home Office in 2007, the Supplier Value and Innovation Awards Programme recognises supplier excellence in supporting the Home Office to meet service objectives. Suppliers are assessed against the delivery of four key efficiencies including cost savings and value-added benefits, other value efficiencies, innovation and creativity, and stakeholder collaboration. The ‘best innovation’ category was introduced to the programme this year to drive the development of creative solutions to survive the current market conditions.
A spokesperson for the Home Office said: “The awards programme sets exceedingly high expectations for our suppliers and DX delivered across them all. Not only have the team succeeded in implementing significant cost savings for the IPS but they have also delivered considerable service and quality improvements.
“Such dedication enables our colleagues at the IPS to refocus their efforts on the core objective of delivering a cost effective, secure and high quality service for UK passport holders.
“DX has proven the positive impact that innovation can deliver to business performance. We are delighted to reward their efforts to drive down costs whilst still maintaining service level improvements, with this best practice award.”
Petar Cvetkovic, chief executive for DX Group added: “The team worked incredibly hard to develop and implement the new technology through our business operations and we are delighted with the result. Innovation is essential to the future success of industry and we are proud to have set the bar against which other suppliers must achieve. We won’t be resting our laurels though. There is always room for improvement and we will continue to push ourselves to drive up service levels and cut costs, to ensure a first class service to our clients and the wider public.”
