Derby Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
Derbyshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provides acute care for some 1,100 hospital patients. Serving over 600,000 people across Southern Derbyshire, the Trust prides itself on its recognised high standards of quality patient care.
The safe and reliable delivery of patient related documentation and specimens plays a critical role in achieving these standards and, as such, the DX Group already provides the Trust with a Category B specimen delivery service as well as an onsite Document Exchange for the mailing of legal records.
The Challenge
With patient confidentiality high on the agenda, the Trust had experienced a 15% annual increase in postal costs – attributed partly to the rise in packages being sent by Special Delivery.
In a bid to reduce these costs, the Trust set the challenge to provide a highly reliable, secure delivery service whilst also keeping prices to a minimum.
The brief required us to guarantee confidentiality, by picking up direct, whilst also enabling our client to track packages through to final destination.
The Solution
With a strong track record in delivering for the NHS, we knew how important it was to guarantee complete confidentiality in the handling of sensitive packages, as well as ensuring prompt delivery to the right recipient. So, with this in mind, we recommended a tailored service, combining our Secure DX and Courier services.
Collection from multiple points - with parcels being passed direct from the sender to courier - coupled with online resource to track parcels in real time, offer the Trust real peace of mind when it comes to ensuring confidential and reliable delivery.
Furthermore, the changes have resulted in reduced workload and costs for Trust employees – with savings estimated at staggering 34% on the previous year.
The service, originally provided for the medical records team, is set to roll out via the Trust’s post room over the coming months.
