Companies turn to alternative mail providers
in order to guarantee delivery
bling-bling-online.co.uk is among new clients for DX Group, which
reports 400 per cent rise in enquiries from new customers
Despite the ‘period of calm’ recently negotiated by ACAS, a surge in enquiries at DX Group, the private mail company which was borne out of the postal strikes of the 1970s, indicates that Royal Mail business and public sector customers continue to actively seek alternative ways in which to guarantee mail deliveries.
Call volumes into DX were four times higher than usual during the strike period and the company, which offers competitive signed for services and highly efficient ‘document exchanges’, has recently secured several significant business and public sector customers.
One new client is internet retailer, bling-bling-online.co.uk. Fed up with interruptions to deliveries and rising numbers of customer complaints, this jewellery company was attracted to DX as it is the only provider to have an end-to-end operation that is not reliant on Royal Mail.
Chris Hemming, founding director of Stratford-Upon-Avon-based bling-bling-online.co.uk, said: “I started the business seven years ago and it’s been a time in which urban and hip hop fashion pieces have become much more mainstream. Sales have built well, but the Royal Mail strikes have taken their toll. For a while my main job became handling complaints from customers chasing the whereabouts of their jewellery.
“I’d looked around for other providers but realised that many rely on Royal Mail for part of their service and that our packages would still be delayed. Then I came across DX, who are the only end-to-end alternative.
“I’ve now switched everything that was sent through Royal Mail Special Delivery to SecureDX. It’s an equivalent service and about £1 per item cheaper. Given I was spending over £15,000 a year on the Royal Mail service, I wish I’d known about it sooner.”
SecureDX is simple to use – clients purchase pre-paid bags which can be dropped off at one of DX’s 20,000 plus UK locations. The company delivers to 97% of UK business and residential addresses.
DX is a subscription-based service which operates via couriers and through hundreds of Document Exchanges across the UK. For further information about DX Group, please visit: www.thedx.co.uk.
